Organizations
Parish-sponsored organizations and non-parish based groups that meet
regularly here at St. Aloysius provide a variety of interaction, support and
growth to parishioners and others in the community. For contact information
relating to any of these, call 323-5896. St. Aloysius Altar
Society and Guilds: for women of the parish in support of sanctuary
needs, on-going friendship and spiritual growth. General meetings are the
second Tuesday of each month September through May, with Mass at 11:30
followed by lunch. Guilds meet at various times and locations at the choice
of the members. Open to all women of the parish and affiliated with the
Diocesan and National Councils of Catholic Women.
Marriage Encounter: international organization to strengthen and
re-enforce healthy marriages.
Adult Bible Study: Monday afternoon gathering of folks
seeking to deepen knowledge and appreciation of Sacred Scripture and it's
roots.
Spanish-language Scripture Reflection: Weekly opportunity
(Thursday evenings) to gather, discuss in Spanish, reflect and pray with
the week's liturgical readings.
Christian Silent Meditation: Men and women seek to deepen
relationship with God through a weekly opportunity to gather for an hour
of silent meditation, following the format of the World Community for
Christian Meditation.
St. Aloysius Church Docents: Men and women interested in
knowing and sharing more about 100 year-old St. Aloysius Church and
parish: its spirit, culture, history and tradition. Docents
meet regularly for training update and are available to guide tours on
scheduled dates and by appointment.
Quilters: Every Monday morning after the 8:00 AM Mass,
folks gather in O'Malley Hall (basement of the church) to work on quilts
(machine and handwork) which are provided to FREE distribution to those in need of bedding.
Overeaters Anonymous: support group for individuals committed to
weight loss through changing destructive eating behaviors and attitudes.
Catholic Native American Urban Community: Native American
Catholics gathered for liturgy and social interaction once a month at St.
Aloysius for Mass and social hour. Call for scheduled dates:

L'Arche: international community composed of core members who
are developmentally disabled and companions who support one another's
efforts to grow to full stature in Christ. Three L'Arche communities
are located in St. Aloysius parish.
Faith and Light: Support group for the developmentally disabled,
their families and friends. Monthly pot-luck suppers and evenings of
prayer, recreation and sociability are held in O'Malley Hall (basement of
the church).
New Life: diocesan organization offering social and spiritual
support the widowed, divorced and separated men and women and their
families.
Catholic Hearing-Impaired: interpreting for the deaf is provided
at 11:00 AM liturgy every Sunday and major feasts, with opportunities for linkage with
resources for the hearing-impaired and their families.
Voice of the Faithful: Catholics from around the diocese,
seeking to promote openness and healing within the Church, meet regularly
to discuss and recommend avenues to reconciliation and positive action.
Catholic Daughters of America: Women united through faith
and shared vision for good. Spokane Executive Board planning
meetings are held regularly at St. Aloysius.
Boy Scouts of America: Young men and their scout leaders of St.
Aloysius Troop #213 gather weekly to build skills of teamwork, citizenship,
skills and values. A Cub Scout program for younger boys is also active.
WACAP: Open meetings for families interested in
international adoption provide information and resources. |
