“Catholic communities of faith should measure their prayer, education, and acton by how they serve the life, dignity , and rights of the human person at home and abroad. A parish’s ‘catholicity’ is illustrated in its willingness to go beyond its own boundaries to extend the Gospel, serve those in need, and work for global justice and peace. This is not a work for a few agencies or one parish committee, but of every believer and every local community of faith.”
(U.S. Bishops,Called to Global Solidarity:Internatonal Challenges for U.S. Parishes, 1997.)
We, the members of St. Aloysius Parish, desire to grow in relationship with the members of the Christian Base Communities in the Bajo Lempa region of El Salvador. The relationship is rooted in the gospel and the mandate to love one another. We recognize and appreciate that, with both our similarities and our differences, we are all members of the Body of Christ. We believe that this relationship will enrich our faith communities as we share our Christian walk. In the spirit of solidarity, we commit ourselves to work for the common good of each community.
